Join the Treasury Board and Finance team as the Manager, Tax Policy, where your expertise will directly impact Alberta’s fiscal position, ensuring fairness, accountability, and sustainability in provincial tax policies.As the Manager, Tax Policy, you will provide expert advice and recommendations to senior management, the Deputy Minister, and the Minister of Treasury Board and Finance. Your work will directly inform decisions made by the Treasury Board and Cabinet, shaping Alberta’s tax policy and fiscal strategy. This role demands strategic thinking, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of tax legislation to navigate the complexities of Alberta’s fiscal landscape.You will monitor developments related to taxation and other public policy issues and conduct original research in order to anticipate and respond to inquiries from senior management, elected officials, and other government departments. This includes using computerized models and highly confidential micro-level tax data to simulate the impact of alternative taxation scenarios.You will contribute to the development of tax policies, analyze fiscal data, and provide recommendations on legislative changes, all while ensuring that Alberta’s tax policies are implemented effectively and fairly.
