Job description: Job Category: ACCOUNTINGJob Description:Weatherford has an opening for a Manufacturing Plant Controller in Alberta, Edmonton. The Controller will be responsible for leading the cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting and budget / forecast formulation functions across all Canadian manufacturing locations. This role will ensure that manufacturing accounting practices conform to GAAP and SOX requirements, as well as achieving best practice status in all locations.Responsibilities

• Lead the development of accurate costing of manufactured products by using work order variance reporting to identify inaccuracies in bills of material and routing, implementing accurate coding of overhead costs to appropriate cost pools, calculating appropriate overhead burden rates for each work center, and ensuring timely cost rolls when raw material price changes require.
• Assure safeguarding and accurate measurement of inventory used in manufacturing operations by ensuring prompt and accurate recording of inventory changes in the JD Edwards ERP system, implementing an effective cycle counting system, and for locations without cycle counting, implementing alternative controls to ensure acceptable annual physical inventory count variances.
• Develop performance metrics that measure process improvement and cost reduction initiatives, design reports that identify cost trends and variances, measure inventory performance, and provide reporting that supports process improvement initiatives.
• Create accurate forecasting tools for use in budgeting and strategic planning processes.
• Provide project leadership in the continued implementation of JD Edwards software and other related electronic initiatives to maximize data accuracy while minimizing data collection effort.
• Coach and mentor cost accounting staff to achieve technical competence, awareness of corporate policy and requirements, team cohesion, and career progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 10 years of experience in manufacturing accounting
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and SOX accounting requirements
• Cycle count experience
• Have experience with standard cost accounting
• Weekly forecast experience

Skills

• Expertise in the use of MS Excel and JD Edwards
• Familiarity with Hyperion
