As a member of the Payroll and Benefits team, you are accountable for the full-cycle processing of two bi-weekly payrolls for approximately 2,800 employees.Key Responsibilities:Process two bi-weekly payrolls for NAIT’s salaried and casual employeesProcess new hires, terminations, adjustments, employee changes (address, dependents, etc.), pay rate changes, promotions, misc. deductions, commissions, bonuses, and benefit changesVerify time for hourly time submissions and import entries to payrollPrepare ROE’s, off-cycle payments, and process various payroll reports for auditAdminister benefits for health, dental, life insurance and pensionsEnsure compliance with provincial legislation guidelines, collective agreements, as well as internal policies and proceduresReview and verify source documentsInvestigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errorsRespond to payroll inquiriesCalculate termination and severance payLiaise with all HR areas, government departments, and other internal and external associatesCover off duties in the absence of other team members and provides support to the Payroll and Benefits ManagerSkills & Abilities:Comprehensive knowledge of payroll related legislation including Income Tax, Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Standards, WCB, as well as full cycle benefit administrationExperience with using Microsoft Office suite, advanced data entry skills and ERP systems and knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM would bean assetStrong team player with a commitment to professionalism and excellent customer serviceExcellent verbal and written communication skills and outstanding analytical skills are required to effectively support all clients and internal/external contactsAptitude for troubleshootingWork well under pressure and able manage tight deadlinesExperience working with cross functional teamsQualifications:Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience, preferably with payroll, benefits and pension experienceCompleted PCP courses from the Canadian Payroll Association certification program preferredA good understanding of full cycle payroll in union and non-union environments, including experience with G/L reconciliations and accounting entriesApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: $2,232.65 to $2,958.19 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package.Please submit a resume and cover letter to be considered for this opportunity.About NAITWe are proud to have been named one of Alberta’s Top Employers for 14 consecutive years.
