ICHWP conducts applied health services and policy research using a variety of methodologies and methods, including patient outcome evaluations, survey studies, chart reviews, process evaluations, focused ethnographies and other qualitative methods, and policy analysis.Position SummaryWe are seeking a full-time research coordinator, working under the direction of Dr. Elaine Hyshka (ICHWP Scientific Director), Dr. Ginetta Salvalaggio (ICHWP Associate Scientific Director), Dr. Kathryn Dong (ICHWP Associate Scientific Director) to support the program’s research activities, including coordinating participant recruitment, data collection, analysis, literature reviews, peer engagement, and reporting. The research coordinator will work with the project team, project partners, and service operators to prepare proposals, ethics protocols, community reports, scientific publications, and other materials. The successful candidate may also be involved in additional research activities, if suited to their skills, and as time allows.This position is ideal for someone with strong training and experience in qualitative or quantitative research, and working with structurally vulnerable populations. Past experience working with people who use substances in community and/or inner city settings is considered a strong asset. We are especially interested in a candidate with high attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a strong ability to work independently. ICHWP’s fast-paced, highly engaged research program will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to work on research projects that contribute directly to improved health services and outcomes for people who use substances, their families, and communities.Duties

• Provides administrative support for grant applications, presentations, publications, reports and other program based initiatives
• Provides administrative support for the team (e.g., organizing files, coordinating petty cash, website management, maintaining a filing system, organizing meetings including preparing minutes and agendas)
• Basic accounting and budgeting duties (under supervision)
• Collaborates with all team members, faculty, staff, students and research participants and liaises with external partners and collaborators as required
• Prepares research documents and materials including ethics applications, grant proposals, literature reviews, progress and financial reports for funders, data collection tools and study protocols, etc.)
• Performs study recruitment, data collection, entry and analysis, as well as data cleaning
• Develops and maintains databases as required
• Drafts manuscripts, reports, and lay-language documents
• Assists with overseeing the work of trainees and research assistants
• Produces and maintains knowledge translation, communication materials, and conference materials (i.e. abstracts, workshops)
• Participates in setting and maintaining deadlines and timelines (i.e. for preparation of reports andpublications, conference material submission)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience working with vulnerable populations required
• Experience collecting data in healthcare or community-based settings required
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, time management and independent work initiative
• Excellent attention to detail and diligence
• Ability to liaise effectively with a variety of internal and external research stakeholders
• Ability to work efficiently and in a professional and ethical manner
• Ability to work independently as well as with others on a team
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and timelines
• Police information check and vulnerable sector check is required (results will be reviewed on a ‘case by case’ basis; the successful applicant will be reimbursed for this cost)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred
• 1-3 years previous research and research administrative experience preferred
• Experience with a broad range of research methods preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, SPSS, and ATLAS.TI desirable
• Proficiency in IT skills preferred
• Knowledge of the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures would be beneficial
