Job description: Senior AccountantOur client is searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for providing accounting and financial expertise to support the business units in the Northern Alberta region. A successful candidate will also review financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, other accounting related reports, and prepare provide project reports in an accurate and timely manner.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Collaborate with the development team to prepare, analyze, access project budgets and forecasts
• Forecast and administer recoveries on over expenditures
• Reconcile costs for major infrastructure improvements
• Provide accounting support for cost share agreements
• Manage annual cost to complete process and the cost of sales adjustments
• Prepare joint venture reports and provide accounting support for partner inquiries
• Maintain job estimates and project budgets in the ERP system and perform job costing analyses
• Manage cash flows for joint venture bank accounts and mortgage facilities
• Review quarterly and annual financial statements, including reviewing reconciliations and ongoing discussions with business units
• Support the corporate finance team, preparing mortgage draw reports and request draws, ensuring compliance with loan terms and conditions
• Provide support to the corporate accounting team as required
• Assist with the implementation of new software
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and support calculations
• Assist in evaluating current accounting processes and reporting and providing recommendations for improvements

Your strengths include:

• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
• 3+ years of full cycle accounting experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and accounting software such as NewStar or similar
• Ability to effectively manage your time while balancing multiple priorities
• Clearly express your thoughts in conversation and in written communication
• Seek to understand and listen to others in a non-judgmental way
• Focus on detailed accuracy when dealing with high volume work
