Job description: Job Description:As the Senior Accounting you will drive end-to-end financial operations that support multiple regional branches. You’ll take ownership of subcontractor payroll, fixed asset management, EDI invoicing, and cash flow forecasting. Your work will directly impact cost control, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency.What You’ll Deliver:Subcontractor Operations

• Set up and manage subcontractor accounts treated as full-time equivalents.
• Lead payroll processing, generate EFTs, and reconcile semi-monthly reports.
• Post journal entries to correct discrepancies and align payroll data with financials.

Cost Control & Month-End Reporting

• Guide branches on cost entry and ensure accuracy in system inputs.
• Prepare and deliver key reports (e.g., AR Aging) that inform receivables strategy.
• Roll accounting periods forward in Costar and ensure AP/AR reconciliation.
• Analyze balance sheet accounts including WIP, prepaids, and payroll accruals.

Fixed Asset Management

• Oversee asset lifecycle from CapEx proposal to disposal.
• Ensure proper classification of expenses vs. capital investments.
• Maintain fixed asset records in Costar and generate monthly reports.

EDI Invoicing & Data Integrity

• Submit and correct EDI invoices for 5-6 clients across multiple branches.
• Perform daily system close (Day End) in Costar and update sales data.
• Identify invoice errors and coordinate with branches to resolve issues quickly.

Cash Flow Management

• Monitor daily bank activity and verify cheque accuracy and client details.
• Build weekly cash forecasts based on live bank data and expected payables.
• Maintain visibility of cash availability to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly financial and operational reports for leadership.
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and manage amortization entries.
• Research and resolve variances or irregularities across financial statements.
• Support audits and lead ad hoc financial projects as needed.

What You Bring:

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced, multi-branch setting.
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor payroll, fixed assets, and AP/AR processes.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (Costar experience a plus).
• Strong analytical skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across departments and locations.

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address financial discrepancies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Detail-oriented and proactive, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Expected salary: $60000 – 70000 per year
