Help us raise the expectation of what an agriculture company can be and grow your career with Nutrien.Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Senior Accountant will assist with the accounting, reporting and analysis of the Corporate and NPK Operating Segment results. This position requires a high degree of cross-department and cross-operating segment interaction. The Corporate Accounting department operates with a significant number of deadlines and reporting obligations and as such, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.What you will do:

• Preparation of the quarterly accounting and reporting for defined contribution pension, defined benefit pension, and other post-retirement benefits plans
• Providing accounting support for curtailments and amendments of defined benefit pension plans
• Preparation of monthly journal entries and working papers, including designated and non-designated hedging activities and hedge effectiveness testing
• Responsible for the review and analysis of embedded derivatives
• Responsible for the preparation of Corporate and NPK business unit management reporting, including P&L and Balance Sheet Variance analysis
• Completion of monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations
• Preparation and review of other month-end close activities as assigned
• Prepare and review external reporting schedules and requests
• Prepare and review information requests from external and internal auditors
• Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects as required

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or business related field
• CPA designation required
• 5+ years accounting experience with a strong working knowledge of IFRS and application of the concepts
• Results oriented, with ability to work in a deadline driven environment
• Experience with data and variance analysis, including researching causes and providing clear explanations
• Strong attention to details combined with the ability to see the big picture
• Excellent analytical skills, problem solving and decision-making capability
• Demonstrated time management skills, and ability to prioritize when involved with multiple initiatives and changing priorities
• Experience using SAP, Oracle, consolidation system BPC/EPM, and Power Query would be considered an asset
